Pregnant

Tracking through pregnancy.

Week-by-week, kick counts from 28w, red-flag awareness.

What we track for you

  • Week and trimester
  • Kick counts from 28w
  • Symptoms by week
  • Appointment notes

Red flags we surface

  • · Reduced fetal movement
  • · Bleeding or severe pain
  • · Severe headache, vision changes, swelling

When any of these show up across your logs, you get a prompt and the GPS opens with the right questions ready.

What's happening

Forty weeks (give or take) of your body doing something extraordinary. Here's what to expect, and when to call.

Pregnancy is dated from the first day of your last period — so by the time you test positive, you're already ~4 weeks 'pregnant'. The full term is split into three trimesters.

Most pregnancies are uneventful, but knowing the red flags is what keeps you and baby safe.

Trimester by trimester

  1. 1st trimester (0–13w)

Nausea, fatigue, sore breasts. Dating scan ~10–14w. Highest miscarriage risk window — first 12w. Folic acid + vitamin D daily.

  2. 2nd trimester (14–27w)

Energy returns. 20-week anomaly scan. First movements (quickening) 16–24w. Bump starts to show.

  3. 3rd trimester (28w+)

Kick counts daily. GTT for gestational diabetes ~28w. Whooping cough + flu/Covid jabs. Birth plan + hospital bag from ~36w.

Symptoms you might notice

Morning sickness

Often all-day. Worst 6–14w. Severe vomiting = call (could be HG).

Round ligament pain

Sharp groin twinges as ligaments stretch. Normal.

Braxton Hicks

Practice contractions from ~20w. Irregular, painless.

Reduced fetal movements

ANY change in your baby's normal pattern from 28w → call triage now.

Self-care that actually helps

Folic acid, vitamin D, iodine

Folic acid 400mcg (5mg if diabetic/epileptic). Vitamin D 10mcg through pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Move daily if you can

Walking, swimming, prenatal yoga. Pelvic floor work from now.

Food rules ≠ food fear

Avoid raw fish, soft cheeses, pâté, liver. Coffee under 200mg/day. Nothing else needs to be banned.

Mind the mental load

Antenatal anxiety is real. Mood matters. Tell your midwife.

When to see a clinician

Call now

  • · Heavy bleeding
  • · Severe one-sided pain (early)
  • · Reduced or changed fetal movements (28w+)
  • · Severe headache + vision changes + swelling (PET)
  • · Waters breaking before 37w
  • · Severe itching especially palms/soles (could be OC)

Same week

  • · Persistent vomiting
  • · Fever over 38°C
  • · Burning when weeing

Questions to ask your doctor

  • What's my risk profile and which scans/tests do I need?
  • What's my BMI/blood pressure plan?
  • What are my pain relief options in labour?
  • What's the plan if baby is late?

Myths vs facts

Myth: You should eat for two.

Truth: An extra ~200 kcal/day in the third trimester. That's it.

Myth: Reduced movements just mean baby's tired.

Truth: Babies don't 'slow down'. Always call.

Myth: Epidurals slow labour.

Truth: Modern low-dose epidurals don't meaningfully slow first or second stage.
